Quick with a blade, Will Turner is the son of pirate, 'Bootstrap' Bill Turner. When he is rescued by a ship his pirate past is quickly forgotten and starts a new life as a sword-maker. When his childfood friend, Elizabeth Swann, is kidnapped he goes to her rescue, making friends with Jack along the way.

When she was on a ship on the crossing from England, Elizabeth first meets Will and takes the pirate medallion he has hung around his neck, without knowing what it really is. After the medallion starts 'calling' to the pirates, she is kidnapped and is almost sacrificed to lift a curse. However, when Will and Jack turn up to rescue her, she learns Will's true feelings for her.

Captain of the Black Pearl, Barbossa leads a crew who are placed under a curse. In order to lift it, he must replace the blood from the person who stole the treasure in the first place. When he discovers that Jack is alive after being marooned and that Will is the son of Bootstrap, his life takes a very unpleasant turn.

After meeting Jack, Norrington vows to hang him, whatever the cost. He is fond of Elizabeth and is emotionally shattered when she tells him she prefers Will to him.

Elizabeth's ever-loving dad who'd do anything for her. He is glad when he hears Norrington proposed to her, but doesn't seem all that bothered when she tells him she loves Will.

The fastest ship in the Caribbean, the Black Pearl is a ship that could easily outrun any other.
